RESPONSIBILITIES
ESO (European School of Oncology)
cancerworld.org is owned, provided and operated by ESO through
an ESO appointed Portal Administrator, under the editorial
responsibility of an ESO appointed Editor-in-Chief who collaborates
with the ESO Director.
Editor-in-Chief
The responsibility of the Editor-in-Chief is to maintain the scientific
and
ethical integrity of the websites and of, or dispose for, any
links from
the websites. In this view, the Editor-in-Chief will approve all
materials and contents proposed for publishing on the website.
It is however
implicit that no objections will be raised to the routine updating
of the
association's information. It is also implicit that the association
is per
se liable for the information that is published on the association's
website and it is the association's responsibility to ascertain
the
validity of the information.
Portal Administrator
The responsibility of the Portal Administrator is to develop the
technical
structure and to monitor the functionality of the portal and websites,
to
comply with the purposes of cancerworld. If so required by the
Editor-in-
Chief, the Portal Administrator may provide assistance in the
editorial
analysis which, nevertheless, remains under the responsibility
of the
Editor-in-Chief. The Portal Administrator is the link person between
the
associations and cancerworld and assists the associations in gaining
the
technical know-how to operate the administrative interface as
well as to
comply with the cancerworld policy, purposes and standards. The
Portal
Administrator suggests strategies to increase the visibility of
the portal
and websites and to foster the co-operation between the associations'
website projects. The Portal Administrator is required to comply
with the
association's requests in a timely manner. Specifically, requests
for
publication of new contents or updated contents should be processed
within 72 hours.
Association
The Association agrees to comply with, share and contribute to
the
cancerworld concept and is provided by ESO, through cancerworld,
with
a common Internet structure and presence. Within the Association's
organisational structure, at its own expenses and under its direct
control,
a Website Manager and a Content Manager are appointed (the tasks
of
the Website Manager and of the Content Manager may be undertaken
by the same person). The Website Manager is the person representing
the Association towards the Portal Administrator and the Editor-in-Chief
and undertakes the responsibility to update and organise the
association's information (navigation) on the website in accordance
to the Association's directives. The Content Manager provides
assistance to the Website Manager in collecting, preparing and
typesetting the
association's information.
